Rudo Kemper is a geographer by training, and a photographer as a hobby. In recent times, he has decided to bring these two elements of his life in closer contact.
Rudo's work involves supporting Indigenous communities in mapping and monitoring their lands, and building digital tools that increase community self-determination and autonomy. He is currently leading the co-creation and technical development of a biocultural monitoring system for Indigenous communities as the Senior Technical Lead at Conservation Metrics.
He has over a decade of fieldwork experience working with Indigenous communities in the Amazon, Caribbean, North America, and East Africa.
Rudo also works as a cartographer, with both print and digital formats. His mapping portfolio can be found at Kunuku Mapping.
While a lot of his work focuses on documenting the remote forest landscapes and communities where he works, Rudo also enjoys taking photos for birthday parties, modeling and fashion events, and personal portraits, and can be hired in the greater DMV (DC / Maryland / Virginia) area.
His kit currently consists of a Nikon Z6-ii mirrorless body, Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S prime lens, Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, and a Godox V1 Flash.
